There is a huge difference between positive mindset and “positivity bypassing”.
“Bypassing” is anytime we go around an uncomfortable feeling (or ignore it completely).
Bypassing is *not* how we heal, change, or shift ANYTHING.
Having a positive mindset DOES NOT MEAN you won’t have negative feelings (Hi, you’re human…).
Glossing over a feeling and just saying “Oh think positive” is suppressing emotion, and it’s a form of dismissing ourselves or others.
And it is NOT helpful to the healing process.
Listen…
You’re human.
You are GOING TO HAVE FEELINGS. ALL KINDS OF FEELINGS. Sometimes all at once.
It’s completely natural.
The difference is in allowing yourself to “just be” with the feelings. Witness them, notice them, don’t judge them, don’t numb them or avoid them.
Let them be there and they will move through you.
The more you fight against a feeling, the more it will try to be heard. The louder and more uncomfortable it will get, the more you ignore it.
FEEL THE FEELING FIRST.
Once you’ve felt through the feelings, then you can choose a positive next step for yourself.
Have Courage and Sparkle On
